1. I have upgraded Windows since I purchased one of your programs. Will my old copy still work OK?

Solution: New releases of Windows can cause problems in running older versions of programs. The current version of all our programs is compatible with the current version of Windows. The version number of your program is printed on the face of the CD-ROM. In most cases, older versions of our programs will still run without problems on the latest versions of Windows. However, there are some exceptions. If any of the following apply to you, you can upgrade your version of the program. If you have version 4 or later, upgrade will cost 50% of the cost of a new license. Please contact your supplier with proof of your original purchase.

For all 64 bit operating systems, you need v5.x or higher.

Newer versions of Windows are installed with a default account that is stated to be an 'Administrator' account. However, it does not have the 'elevated' privileges required to successfully install many programs. If you experience a problem when you first install the program, it may not have been installed at full Administrator level. You can overcome this by reinstalling the program again. This time, right-click on the setup file, and select 'Run as administrator'. The program should then install correctly.

Windows 8 bug
Windows 8 (both 32 bit and 64 bit versions) shipped with a bug preventing the ToolBook Authoring (and Runtime) environment from starting at all (it would lockup/freeze before fully opening - typically reporting that ToolBook had stopped responding).

Microsoft fixed this for both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows 8, in the"Windows 8 Client and Windows Server 2012 General Availability Cumulative Update" that they rolled out on October 11, 2012.

You will need to ensure you have the latest Windows 8 updates installed - especially that"Windows 8 Client and Windows Server 2012 General Availability Cumulative Update".

If installed, you should be able to find this entry listed in the "installed updates" section of the Programs and Features control panel.
